Vertiv, a leading global provider of digital infrastructure and continuity solutions that protect thousands of data center, power, and heating systems, turned to RunSafe to secure the embedded management system code produced by its Avocent Core Insight®️ (ACI) family of embedded Linux packages.

Vertiv integrated RunSafe’s Alkemist:Source technology to create an industry-first process for baseboard management controllers that thwarts the threat of cyberattacks.

Alkemist’s patented cyberhardening protects code against memory corruption errors and buffer overflow exploits — the techniques attackers typically use to gain control of embedded systems and devices. Alkemist transforms Avocent Core Insight Binary code at boot time using Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP) and Moving Target Defense (MTD) techniques, making it impervious to memory attacks and avoiding the need for emergency patching.

From our perspective, adding Alkemist to Avocent Core Insight means we have more opportunity to shrink the attack surface and reduce overall risks for our customers since security is now already built into our product.”
