RunSafe Security Senior Software Engineer Katie Fejer will be speaking at the Aerospace Village on August 7th at DEF CON 34.
Her talk, “Cleared for Takeoff: Debunking ‘Uncertifiable’ Cybersecurity,” will cover the challenges of certifying cybersecurity tools for use in safety-critical systems, like those found in aircraft, vehicles, and other embedded systems. Before a security tool can run on a safety-critical system, it has to prove it behaves predictably every single time.
Katie will walk through the certification process, using RunSafe’s own work as an example. She will show how the team is making RunSafe Protect qualifiable under DO-178C, the certification standard for airborne software, and DO-330, the standard that governs the tools used to build and verify it.
Cybersecurity tools don’t just belong on the ground. Katie will show how to prove they are deterministic and get them certified to bring greater safety and security to critical systems.
